The Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD) offers a Seniors Brokerage Service for seniors 55 years and over with developmental disabilities living in the Ottawa region.
The Seniors Broker helps seniors who have developmental disabilities participate with appropriate support in community activities which are more suitable to his/her needs. These include social and recreational activities at senior’s centres, day activity programs, drop-in centers, etc.
The Seniors Broker may also:
- advocate for the rights of a senior with a developmental disability;
- assist in senior residential placement;
- serve as a resource for information on seniors’ issues and senior services, which are of particular benefit to the developmentally disabled;
- assist individuals who have had trouble accessing medical care or understanding medical information
- assist individuals with access to personal, psychological or bereavement counseling;
- support seniors who wish to explore volunteer work.

The Meals on Wheels Program aims to help elders that are unable to cook or prepare for themselves. This program is available for seniors, adults who are chronically ill or living with a disability or recovering from a medical procedure. Meals on Wheels will provide and deliver nutritious meals to ones home three days per week. There is one centre located in Central Ottawa and one in Gatineau.
