Ontario Early Years Centres are places where early learning activities are provided for children. Parents and caregivers can get answers to questions, information about programs and services that are available for young children, and have an opportunity to talk to early years professionals, as well as each other. The Ontario Early Years Centre Ottawa South provides support and education through a variety of programs: Information and Referral, playgroup and drop-in programs, internet access, resource library, toy library, training oportunities, Infant Hearing Program, and parent and caregiver support groups. Services are available in French and English.

Autism Ontario provides support, information and services to individuals and their families with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  There is a variety of information about recreational programs, summer camps, educational policies and much more. Find a local chapter in your area.

Main Street Community Services, a registered charity, provides a variety of social, health and recreational services for children and youth with intellectual disabilities. Their website includes a complete listing of all available programs.

Recreation group for children and youth; Special programs and services, integrative services for special needs, volunteer services, preventive intervention and community alternatives for young offenders. Preventive recreational and social service programs for children and youth at risk, teen talk nights, drug awareness, computer instruction, homework clubs, individual support, leadership training, employment/training readiness. 


Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing - National Capital Division

A volunteer-based non-profit organization with an objective of promoting alpine skiing and snowboarding for persons with a disability. Supports six formal programs in the region: Ski Hawks Ottawa at Camp Fortune, for the visually impaired. School support (alpine skiing trips where a member of the group has a disability) and special needs groups are accommodated by special request. The degree of assistance and the instruction technique depend on the participants needs. Each participant learns to ski at their highest capability level.

 

Dreams Take Flight - Ottawa Chapter

Organization dedicated to make a difference in the lives of children who have been affected by serious physical, medical or social circumstances. Provides special needs children a chance to visit Disney World where their ongoing struggles are forgotten. Children are nominated by different agencies.

 

Max Keeping Foundation

The mission is to assist financially disadvantaged children and youth and their families to meet recreational, physical, mental and emergency needs. A board of trustees determines how the requests are met. The Max Keeping Foundation supports special needs children going to camp, partaking in sports, and supports the purchase of special needs equipment.

Bilingual Service. Helps assessment and referral to appropriate programs or to determine the level of support needed. Portfolio Coordinators for Special Needs provide Leisure Counselling that connects clients to recreation programs and can facilitate volunteer support when necessary to enhance participation.
