The Queen Alexandrea Centre for Children's Health offers assessment, treatment, consultation, long-term or short-term follow-up or coordination of services to infants, children and adolescents who have complex physical, intellectual, social or emotional challenges.  The services provided include outpatient and outreach services topre-school and school-age children with physical and developmental disabilities, speech and language therapy, autism intervention, occupational therapy, 18-bed child and adolescent psychiatric unit and orthotics and prosthetic services.

This government department provides assistance and support for children and youth with special needs from birth up to 19 years of age and their families.  The Ministry of Children and Family Development funds a variety of programs that promote children’s healthy development, maximize quality of life, assist families in their role as primary caregivers and support full participation in community life.

BC Autism Assessment Network (BCAAN)

BCAAN, a program of the Provincial Health Services Authority, is responsible for assessing and diagnosing children who may have autism. The goal of BCAAN is to provide timely assessment and diagnosis within reasonable distance of the child’s home. BCAAN includes specialists and health care professionals throughout BC.

CAFCA Autism Services

CAFCA’s Autism Services Program supports parents of children and youth ages 6 - 19 diagnosed with autism.  This program includes the following services; intervention, social groups, day camps, music therapy, and/or behavioural consultant services to parents of children and youth with autism.

Supporting children and adults with developmetal disabilites.
Community Options support children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.  They work in partnership with other organizations, individuals and government to ensure the inclusion of all people in the community.  Community Options also offers services like respite care, parent and family education, and support groups.

The IDHHC provides counselling and support services for persons with hearing loss.  Some of the programs provided included counselling to help families and persons cope with hearing loss, technical aids program, support groups, employment support and integration, and many more. 

Canadian Diabetes Association - Youth On It

Young people living with diabetes face many hurdles as they move into adulthood. Youth On It, a first-of-its-kind resource spearheaded by the Canadian Diabetes Association, seeks to help make the transition a little easier. Funded by the Law Foundation of BC, the Youth On It guide addresses issues faced by young people living with diabetes. The free information booklet targets 16-24-year-olds and covers topics ranging from employment and education, to advocacy, healthcare and insurance.

The Victoria Youth Clinic is a free, non-profit, confidential health care service available for youth from ages 12 to 24. With two locations available and a doctor, clinical nurse, counsellor, psychiatrist, outreach worker and managing staff, they provide a variety of health services for youth as well as support with health concerns such as mental health, counselling, addictions, assistance in obtaining a care card, referrals to specialists, vaccinations and much more.
 
Please note: You do not need a care card to receive these services but they can help you obtain one if you need assistance.
