The program aims to give children a good start in life; encourage the healthy growth and development of babies and children; and provide information about resources in the community.

The North Bay and Parry Sound District Health Unite provides community information, programs and referrals for families in the area.  Programs include:  Prenatal classes, Healthy Babies - Healthy Children, Parenting Programs and Breast Feeding Support.

Algonquin Child and Family Services - Early Intervention

This is an intensive home/community based intervention service tailored to meet the needs of a child (age 0-6) and his/her family, when simpler approaches are not enough to support the family.

Community based rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19).  This agency hosts the following programs:  occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech language pathology, assessments, consultation, intervention with feeding difficulites, behavioural difficulites, parental/family support and liaison and advocacy for families with other community service providers and schools.

This program helps families who are caring for a child with a developmental or physical disability, as well as adults with a developmental disability.
It helps families pay for special services in the home or outside the family home as long as the child is not receiving support from a residential program.

The Infant Development Program is available to families with children (birth to 6 years) who may be at risk for problems affecting mental and/or physical growth.  Through formal and informal developmental assessments the Infant Development Worker will assist the family in understanding their child’s unique pattern of development.

The Developmental Assessment Consultation and Treatment Services are provided by a team of professionals whose goal is to help children and adults with developmental disabilities to overcome any social, emotional or behavioral issues that are hindering their quality of life. Support is also provided to families and caregivers.
Depending on the needs of the individual, assessments may focus on adaptive behavior, intellectual abilities, speech/language/communication skills, and/or social/emotional functioning.
