A resident of Ontario must have a health card to show that he or she is entitled to health care services paid for by OHIP. Ontario residents are eligible for provincially funded health coverage (OHIP). OHIP coverage normally becomes effective three months after the date you establish residency in Ontario.

The Special Services at Home (SSAH) program is funded and administered by the Ministry of Community and Social Services.
This program provides funding directly to families so they can purchase services to provide personal development and relief support to a child or adult with a developmental disability or a child with a physical disability.

Provides financial assistance and drug and dental card to eligible families of severely handicapped children 18 yrs and under with a variety of special needs. Its purpose is to enable the child to live as normal a life as possible at home in the community. The monthly benefit is determined by the expenses directly related to the child’s handicap and the gross family income.

The Military Families Fund (MFF) is an agile and responsive means for Base and Wing Commanders, in concert with Military Family Resource Centers (MFRC) across the country, to help military families within hours of being advised of need. It will help with short-term emergencies and also provide long-term support. The MFF allows CF leadership to meet the special-case needs of CF members and their families with speed and flexibility not always available through the traditional programs.

Bilingual Service. Offers financial assistance for children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities. Funds disability solutions through direct financial assistance. Camp and Recreational Choices Program, Scholarships, Incontinence Supplies Grant Program, research , advocacy, public and consumer education and peer support. Funds special equipment not covered under a medical insurance or government plan (based on financial need).

Government program to help children with developmental or physical disabilities, adults with developmental disabilities to live at home with their families, and those who have additional responsibilities in caring for a family member with a disability. Funding for respite care, parent relief and related supports.

CHAMP program provides funding for: artificial limbs, where provincial medical plans or private insurance plans do not cover the entire cost; CHAMP covers 100% of the cost of recreational limbs and devices for its members. Recreational limbs for musical instruments, swimming, skiing, or other activities are considered to be a necessity for child amputees; travel to and from prosthetic facilities.
