The Member Assistance Program (MAP) is a voluntary and confidential service for Canadian Forces (CF) to help members (Regular Force, all Reserve Class Members, Cadets) and family members. MAP provides a short-term problem solving service for persons who have parenting or family concerns, interpersonal relations, personal and emotional, stress, anxiety, sexual assault and addiction concerns.

Our Family/Child and Youth Counsellor, offers crisis intervention and short term emotional support for young individuals, couples and families.

Children and youth are provided with a safe place to explore feelings, be validated, and be better equipped to manage themselves, their relationships, and daily tasks.  This is achieved with a differential way of responding, by promoting a flexible, culturally sensitive, and supportive intervention, focused directly on topics such as:                        

  • Deployment
  • Behavioural Difficulties
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Anger Management Problems
  • Feelings of Isolation,
  • Grief and Loss
  • Relationships
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress Management

These services include counselling in schools, in office or in your own community as well as individual, group and family counselling.

Services are not limited to children and youth, the same services are available to adult & family clients as well.

ADAM is a non-profit charitable organization that supports people who are living with anxiety disorders and their families throughout the province through a variety of support programs and services. The program provides a toolkit of supportive resources and assistance in managing and reducing anxiety and coping with stressors through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Their website also provides a variety of information on anxiety disorders.

The Manitoba Psychological Society website has a comprehensive listing of psychologists by city and region, among other criteria. A Psychologist can assess and find solutions to problems and challenges that people face in their life.
