The Member Assistance Program (MAP) is a voluntary and confidential service for Canadian Forces (CF) to help members (Regular Force, all Reserve Class Members, Cadets) and family members. MAP provides a short-term problem solving service for persons who have parenting or family concerns, interpersonal relations, personal and emotional, stress, anxiety, sexual assault and addiction concerns.

The Petawawa MFRC PSI Program provides a variety of programs with includes, Short-term Intervention and Crisis Support, Referral to community and military support services, Education, Prevention & Self-Help Groups,  and in partnership with the Renfrew County & District Health Unit there are prenatal education courses, well-baby drop-ins, child health, sexual health and immunization clinics.   If you are experiencing challenges parenting, behavioural challenges with your child or require support during a crisis please call the Petawawa MFRC for support and information on programs that are offered.
 

Family Mediation Centre

The Family Mediation Centre is governed by Governed by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario / Canada, Family Mediation Canada and The Ontario Association for Family Mediation. They offer a variety of counseling and support services for Canadian Forces members and their families who are experiencing divorce or long-term separation. They offer mediation to separation and divorce agreements, cohabitation agreements, intra-family conflict, conflict conciliation and client assessment and referral.

The Phoenix Centre is a children’s mental health treatment centre which provides a variety of family centered treatments to children and youth 18 years and under and their families.  Their purpose is to meet the mental health needs of children. Services they provide are individual counseling services for children, sibling counseling services, family counseling services, Family and Child Therapy, Early Years Services, Trauma Services, Youth Justice Services, School Based Programs, Group Services, Respite Care and much more.

Special Needs Program - Ministry of Children and Youth Services

The Ontario government provides and funds many special programs and services to help these children and their families. The programs and services include respite care, autism services, developmental delay services, disability services, mental health services, rehabilitiation and special services at home. The Infant Development Program is available to families with children (birth to 6 years) who may be at risk for problems affecting mental and/or physical growth.  Through formal and informal developmental assessments the Infant Development Worker will assist the family in understanding their child’s unique pattern of development.

CMHO represents and supports the providers of child and youth mental health treatment services throughout Ontario.   On their website you can find a mental health service provider near you, tools to support your family dealing with the process of diagnosis and mental health issues, and tools for professionals.  Some mental health issues may include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioural challenges or a complex mental health disorder.
