Community based rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19).  This agency hosts the following programs:  occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech language pathology, assessments, consultation, intervention with feeding difficulites, behavioural difficulites, parental/family support and liaison and advocacy for families with other community service providers and schools.

The Member Assistance Program (MAP) is a voluntary and confidential service for Canadian Forces (CF) to help members (Regular Force, all Reserve Class Members, Cadets) and family members.  MAP provides a short-term problem solving service for persons who have parenting or family concerns, interpersonal relations, personal and emotional, stress, anxiety, sexual assault and addiction concerns.

Prevention, Support and Intervention is a service designed to enhance the social and emotional well-being of CF families.
This is a confidential service offered to CF Members and their families. We have very strict policies regarding confidentiality. Any information shared with the Prevention, Support and Intervention Coordinator will remain strictly among staff at the Military Family Resource Centre and this is on a “need to know basis”. The military chain of command would only be involved with the client’s request and written permission.
We are able to assist our families by providing the following:
  • Education and Prevention
  • Short-Term Intervention and Crisis Support
  • Assessment and Referral
If you’re in a situation where you’re feeling as though you do not know which direction to take, contact you’re Prevention, Support and Intervention Coordinator. It’s confidential and it’s free!
Some areas of difficulty may be the following: Stress, Anxiety, Marital difficulties, Financial difficulties, Difficulties with children, Conflict at work, Feelings of depression, Fatigue, Low self-esteem, Feelings of loss, Loneliness, isolated, Addiction.

The Infant Development Program is available to families with children (birth to 6 years) who may be at risk for problems affecting mental and/or physical growth.  Through formal and informal developmental assessments the Infant Development Worker will assist the family in understanding their child’s unique pattern of development.

Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing - Community Support Advocacy Program

The Community Support Advocacy Program is available to individuals with cognitive delays acquired during his/her formative years of development.  Services include emotional support to help empower individuals and their families to advocate on their own behalf; accessing and coordinating community services; locating suitable accommodations; accessing funding; and providing money management skills or trusteeship.  Services are also offered in French.

The Northeast Mental Health Centre (NEMHC) is the largest mental health service provider in northeastern Ontario.  The NEMHC is a specialized mental health centre that provides services to people throughout the region of northeast Ontario suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.
Based on a recovery philosophy of care, NEMHC works with other service providers, patients and their families in the design and implementation of care. Programs include specialized adult mental health, senior’s mental health, forensic psychiatry, outreach programs and a regional children’s psychiatric service.

The Developmental Assessment Consultation and Treatment Services are provided by a team of professionals whose goal is to help children and adults with developmental disabilities to overcome any social, emotional or behavioral issues that are hindering their quality of life. Support is also provided to families and caregivers.
Depending on the needs of the individual, assessments may focus on adaptive behavior, intellectual abilities, speech/language/communication skills, and/or social/emotional functioning.

The Ontario government provides and funds many special programs and services to help these children and their families. The programs and services include respite care, autism services, developmental delay services, disability services, mental health services, rehabilitiation and special services at home. Children's Mental Health Ontario (CMHO)

CMHO represents and supports the providers of child and youth mental health treatment services throughout Ontario.   On their website you can find a mental health service provider near you, tools to support your family dealing with the process of diagnosis and mental health issues, and tools for professionals.  Some mental health issues may include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioural challenges or a complex mental health disorder.
