Ontario Early Years Centres are places where early learning activities are provided for children. Parents and caregivers can get answers to questions, information about programs and services that are available for young children, and have an opportunity to talk to early years professionals, as well as each other. The Ontario Early Years Centre Ottawa South provides support and education through a variety of programs: Information and Referral, playgroup and drop-in programs, internet access, resource library, toy library, training oportunities, Infant Hearing Program, and parent and caregiver support groups. Services are available in French and English.

 

Member Assistance Program


The Member Assistance Program (MAP) is a voluntary and confidential service for Canadian Forces (CF) to help members (Regular Force, all Reserve Class Members, Cadets) and family members.  MAP provides a short-term problem solving service for persons who have parenting or family concerns, interpersonal relations, personal and emotional, stress, anxiety, sexual assault and addiction concerns.

An accredited mental health agency providing specialized services to children under 12 years with severe emotional and behavioral issues. Programs involve individualized treatment plans which are developed in partnership with parents and children.

The Ontario government provides and funds many special programs and services to help these children and their families. The programs and services include respite care, autism services, developmental delay services, disability services, mental health services, rehabilitiation and special services at home. Infant Development Program

The Infant Development Program is available to families with children (birth to 6 years) who may be at risk for problems affecting mental and/or physical growth.  Through formal and informal developmental assessments the Infant Development Worker will assist the family in understanding their child’s unique pattern of development.

Francophone organization that provides mental health services for children, youth, families and the important people in their living environments. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team for children aged 0 to 18 (or 21 years for the Young Parents Program) who have adjustment difficulties, behavioral problems or other symptoms associated with mental health.
 
Specialized services include two licensed Early Childhood centres: specialized education centre -l'Image and specialized educational centre - les Petits Frimousses. L'Image offers a specialized program for children with Autism up to 6 years of age, in partnership with a multidisciplinary team (OCTC Service Coordination). Les Petits Frimousses welcomes children from 0 to 30 months. Clinical support is provided to children and families in need.

Roberts Smart Centre

A 39-bed integrated children's mental health centre providing residential treatment for high-risk adolescents. Mental Health Residential Program: Maintains 31 residential placements for adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties. 25 beds are for youth involved with child welfare. 6 beds are for families from the community and are accessed through Coordinated Access. Secure Treatment: For adolescents with a severe mental disorder whose behaviours place them at risk to harm themselves or others, and require residential services in a secure facility.
 
Day Treatment: A special education treatment program, in conjunction with local boards of education, serving youth who experience difficulties in the mainstream system due to behavioural problems. Five classrooms, English and French.
 

Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre - Youth Psychiatry Program

Intensive and specialized psychiatric and mental health program offering assessment, consultative and multi-modal treatment services to youth with a focus on early onset major psychiatric, complex and treatment resistant disorders, as well as persisting serious disorders of childhood. The program offers a full continuum of care: Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, Day Treatment, Outpatient and Outreach services in support of youth and their families. The Youth Program integrates evaluation, research, education and early intervention services into best practice clinical service delivery.

Bilingual service which provides home and community-based support services to families with children of 0 to 18 years of age who have a developmental disability or where a parent is diagnosed with a developmental disability. Serves adults with developmental disabilities living at home or in the community.

Strives to provide the appropriate level of response in collaboration with other crisis service providers. A web alert and follow-up program is also offered for professionals in the community. Offers effective interventions at the time of the crisis in order to reduce or divert unnecessary access to hospital emergency rooms, police contact and residential placement.
 
Available to respond to a crisis 24/7. A residential crisis unit can be accessed to provide a short period of stabilization for youth ages 12 to 15 years old, up to 5 days. Short-term follow-up services and assessment for families or youth who are not presently connected with services or resources.

Spectrum Intervention Group is a licensed non profit child care centre which provides individualized programming using ABA principles and procedures, to children aged 2-18 with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, in order to increase their cognitive, language and social abilities in the home, school and community. Spectrum Intervention Group provides individualized programs based on each child's needs and works in collaboration with a variety of other professionals (including Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists and psychologists) on a case by case basis.

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, delivers IBI (Intensive Behavioral Intervention) programs for children on the severe end of autism spectrum disorder. Their treatment goal is to improve skills in communication, motor abilities, behavior, self-help and social interaction. Please note: Children with Asperger’s Syndrome would not qualify for services under this program.
