Supported Child Development Program
Supported Child Development (SCDP) is a community-based program that assists families of children with extra support needs to access inclusive child care. The program is intended to serve children from birth to 12, with services for youth 13 – 19 years available in some communities.

The MFRC has 2 licensed daycares for infant-toddlers, 2 licensed daycares for 3 to 5 year olds, 2 licensed preschools, a licensed kindercare and an out-of-school care. MFRC’s services in French and in other languages are not consistently available unless there is a staff person/volunteer with these language capabilities. Contact the MFRC to inquire about this service. Note: If you are interested in registering your child (children) with the MFRC please contact us as soon as possible due to limited spaces.

If you are interested in hiring a Nanny, this website will be a great search tool. Here you will be able to search for child care providers and caregivers within your area looking for employment in child care, elder care, home care and much more.
It is extremely important that you interview any child care providers and is highly recommended that you ask for a criminal reference check. Please note: If you are hiring a Nanny, please keep in mind that you will act as an employer and need to find out all the tax and legal implications that go a long with that.

Administered by the local C/MFRC, the ECS provides timely, affordable and regulated child care for CF families to address their childcare needs. It supports the ability of CF members to be available for if their child care plan fails. The C/MFRCs are authorized to fund up to 72 continuous hours of emergency child care under some specific circumstances. This program can help you with emergency respite care or emergency childcare. To develop a child care plan and find out more detail information contact the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre or consult the brochure. The MFRC cannot guarantee that they will be able to find an emergency caregiver on short notice.

Offers a free information service about community resources to families in Victoria who are raising a child with special needs ( ie. respite caregivers, workshops, licensed child care options). The service maintains a database for respite childcare providers.
Child Care Resource and Referral
You can request CCRR childcare based on your criteria which may include special needs, language, location, hours of operation etc. You can contact by phone or email via their website and request that the CCRR send you a list of childcare providers operating in facilities and homes based on your requirements.
