Welcome to CFB Moncton!  The Moncton Garrison base is a detachment of Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Gagetown and is located in Moncton's downtown area. The City of Moncton is an excellent place to live and work. Climate

Moncton is located in the heart of the Maritime Provinces. Moncton is known for its cold, snowy winters and warm summers. Winter temperatures range from an average high of -2°C with a low of -11° C.  In the summer months, the average high temperature is 25° C with a low 13° C making it very pleasant during the summer months.

Culture

Moncton and the province of New Brunswick are both officially bilingual. Both French and English are spoken in the area and at most organizations you are able to receive services in both languages.

Moncton is home to different cultural groups. French and English compose the majority of the population with 62% of people having English as their first language and 35% French. This area in NB is also vibrant with Acadian culture; colorful accent, typical old Acadian meals and lobster!

Moncton is also a multicultural city where people of different origins live. MAGMA, the Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area has seen it’s organization grow in last few years with new immigrants and refugees moving to the city.

Transportation

Moncton has a passenger bus service, Codiac Transit. However, most people use their car to get to work. Commutes usually range from 5 minutes to a half hour. This is influenced by traffic in your area of residence and also the times of travel.

  • The HST is a value-added tax and is composed of the federal GST (5%) and a provincial component of 8%, making the overall tax 13%.
