CBC News - Parents are encouraged to be direct with teens
Awareness and prevention is key in preventing depression and suicide among our teenage population and there are steps parents can take to help prevent these issues.
In light of this new found information, CBC shares news coverage on a school in Ottawa, where a local Doctor held an information session on teen mental health. Dr. Manion urges parents and teachers to be more direct and honest with teens about depression as to ease the burden teens carry along with the guilt of being teased. There is a great need to promote teens to talk more honestly and openly about hazing and bullying issues. The more parents talk to today's youth, the more willing they are to open up to us. We just have to ask the right questions.
