Funding Emergency Childcare
The Department of National Defence has produced an informative brochure about their various programs related to planning care for children, including Emergency Childcare and Family Care Assistance.
Emergency Child Care Services (ECS)
Administered by the local C/MFRC, the ECS provides timely, affordable and regulated childcare for CF families to address their childcare needs. It supports the ability of CF members to be available for if their childcare plan fails. The C/MFRCs are authorized to fund up to 72 continuous hours of emergency childcare under some specific circumstances. Consult the brochure for detailed information. The MFRC cannot guarantee that they will be able to find an emergency caregiver on short notice.
Family Care Assistance (FCA)
Administered by the local units, FCA is designed to assist CF single parents and married service couples offset increases in heir normal cost for family care when service requirements necessitate members o be absent from their home unit for 24 hours and or longer. Military Family Fund
Administered by the local units of the CF member, this fund is designed to assist military families faced with unforeseen and often immediate needs that have resulted due to conditions of service. Download the form online for more information.
SISIP Service Income Security Insurance Plan
Low interest (5.5%) loans for military families (from $500 to $4000) for a variety of purposes and which could be for childcare reasons.
